ABOUT...
I am a freelance photographer based in Boston, MA. My early works were influenced by my formal training in architecture with a stereotypical fascination for patterns, colors, light and texture - it was just too much trouble to accommodate humans within the frame unless otherwise they were instrumental as a scale reference for appreciating the spatial dimension. But then we all grow up...and I started photographing my friends who were becoming brides, grooms and eventually parents.
Of late, I find myself drawn more towards portraiture and event photography - to be able to capture those fleeting moments of joy, tenderness, reflection, intensity and bewilderment was suddenly more interesting and gratifying than capturing those sharp shadows and on textured concrete surfaces. Old biases die hard and I am still partial to shooting in daylight. But my foray into dance photography is ushering exciting (and expensive!) possibilities with strobes and studio lighting.
Over the next few years I hope to explore the challenges of photographing the dynamic dimensions of Bharatanatyam and other classical Indian dance forms...where the shutters doesnt rest with gracefulness of perfect form and the rigor of emotive gestures, but also ventures to capture those temporal and rhythmic trajectories of bodies in space.

WHATSUP WITH PURPLE-G
Unfortunately nothing too intriguing. I happen to like the color purple..and I think 'purpleganesh' has a nice ring to it..
...and frankly Ganesh Ramachandran Photography sounds pretty darn boring and its way too lengthy to name a business.
